His lawyer, Al Watkins, says Chansley is “non-violent, peaceful and possessed genuine mental health issues” at the time of the conspiracy-theory-fueled building breach.
On Thursday, Watkins told The Post, “It has been a long road educating the court about mental health vulnerabilities. As a result of a lot of shifting dialog, we have been able to collaborate with the government.”
While in detention, Chansley underwent mental examinations and was diagnosed by prison officials with transient schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression and anxiety.
