Senatorene Elizabeth Warren og Ed Markey har lagt frem et lovforslag om å døpe om navnene på tusenvis av geografiske steder i USA – byer, veier, fjell, innsjøer, elver – for å fjerne navn de forbinder med sider ved USAs historie de ikke liker. At de derved fjerner noe av nasjonens hukommelse, synes ikke å bety noe.

In the latest efforts by the Left to rewrite American history, two members of the United States Senate have introduced a bill to rename over 1,000 locations across the country that are accused of having “racist” names, as reported by the Epoch Times.

Loven kalles the Reconciliation in Place Names Act. Den er fremmet en gang før, i 2020, av bl.a. Dob Haaland, som nå er statsråd for innenlandssaker. Sjansen for at den går gjennom, er derfor større.

Det skal opprettes en kommisjon som skal ta stilling til hvilke stedsnavn som skal forandres. Utgangspunktet er at USA er grunnlagt på slaveri, undertrykkelse og rasisme. Alt som kan assosieres med dette, skal bort.

The targets, which include cities, lakes, and certain mountain peaks, are accused of bearing “offensive names that celebrate people who have upheld slavery, committed unspeakable acts against Native Americans, or led Confederate war efforts.”

Warren har tidligere påstått at hun har indianske aner. Trump døpte henne Pocahontas etter at det viste seg å være en bløff.

“We need to immediately stop honoring the ugly legacy of racism and bigotry,” Warren said in a statement, “and that’s why I’m introducing the Reconciliation in Place Names Act with my colleagues.” The bill’s cosponsor in the House of Representatives is the far-left Texas Congressman Al Green (D-Texas), who notoriously introduced multiple failed efforts to impeach President Donald Trump.
