The Dutch government is looking for 10,000 people to take part in a mock terror attack on Ajax Amsterdam’s soccer stadium, the Interior Ministry said on Tuesday.
The idea for a simulated attack, codenamed «Bonfire» and planned for April 6, came after the Madrid train bombings last March which killed 191 people and wounded 1,900.
«It then became even clearer that so-called ‘soft targets’ are at risk,» the Interior Ministry said in a statement.
Dutch Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende and most cabinet ministers will be in the stadium during the exercise which follows similar simulations in other Western countries to help plan the response of emergency services.(reuters)
